ICC honours Kanoria Chemicals as a socially responsible company
New Delhi, September 26, 2008: Kanoria Chemicals & Industries Limited (KCI), India's leading manufacturer of chemical intermediates has been conferred the ICC Award for Social Responsibility for the year 2007 by the Indian Chemical Council (ICC), the apex industry body for the Indian chemicals industry. The Award was presented today in a special function held in Mumbai.

KCI as a manufacturer of chemicals has adopted energy-efficient, environment-friendly manufacturing technologies and processes required for safe handling of chemicals. As socially responsible organisation with sustainability as one of the core values, KCI is driven to contribute to the well being of the community of people in and around its manufacturing locations. KCI partners NGOs with the primary objective of ensuring a scientific basis to sustainable development in the targeted area within 50 kilometres radius of the Renukoot where it has adopted 22 villages.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. R.V. The areas of current intervention by KCI in social and community development are environment protection, watershed management, education, employment generating programmes, health & family welfare, and low cost housing using flyash

KCI accords high priority to environment protection, particularly in effluent treatment and water conservation. KCI is proactive in not only adopting the best available technologies for environmental management but has also pioneered the conceptualisation of new initiatives in water treatment and effluent disposal.
